Significant Changes to the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code

 

Tech Session Duration: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Tech Session Location: Berlin Room

Tech Session Description: The presentation will cover the significant changes to the commercial provisions of the mechanical and service water heating sections of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). There are changes to performance requirements and the equipment/systems covered. The 2015 IECC is proposed to be the energy portion of the 2018 Connecticut State Building Code. There will be a public comment period on the proposed code, including a public hearing later this year, and it is anticipated that the code will be effective in the second quarter of 2018.

Tech Session Speaker: Fred Wajcs

Speaker Bio: Fred Wajcs is a Professional Engineer and an Energy Code Consultant in South Windsor, CT. He has over 45 years of experience in design, construction, administration, and utility efficiency programs. He is a former member of the ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1 committee and the ASHRAE HVAC Commissioning Guideline committee. He is a current member of Connecticut's Codes and Standards Committee, the Connecticut Chapter of ASHRAE and American Institute of Architects, Connecticut.

Methods of Capturing Airborne Contamination and Pathogens in Hospitals

Dinner Presentation Description: The dinner presentation will explore the relationship between infection, complications and indoor air quality, and provide a review of current air purification technologies available to hospitals. The main portion of the dinner presentation will describe a novel method for capturing airborne contamination and inactivating dangerous pathogens, as well as, the clinical impact of the implementation of these methods.

Dinner Sessions Speaker: Frank Stamatatos - President, SecureAire, LLC

Speaker Bio: Frank brings more than 28 years of international management experience to the SecureAire executive team. Most recently, he was Director of Business Development for StrionAir, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Carrier Corporation a United Technologies Company (NYSE, UTX). Prior to its acquisition, StrionAir was a Venture Capital backed startup, which was turned around by the executive team. Prior to StrionAir, Frank was Vice President of Business Development for Willis Group Holdings (NYSE, WSH) in New York City. Frank also spent 16 years with Pall Corporation (NYSE, PLL), culminating as Senior Vice President of New Business Development and Strategic Marketing.

In his sales and marketing efforts, he developed multiple new markets and product lines for the company, growing businesses from zero to as much as $250 million. He has turn-around experience and has worked extensively in Europe and Asia. Frank holds an MBA in Finance from Hofstra University and a BEE in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University.
