The Current Path of Refrigerants


Tech Session Duration: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM


Tech Session Location: Berlin Room


Tech Session Description: During this techical session current regulations driving the industry to change will be dissussed, as well as, how refrigerant technology is changing. The presenter will share some insights into the marketplace regarding what is driving different segments of the industry to change at different rates.


Tech Session Speaker: Richard D. Wentling, North America Market Development Manager - Opteon Refrigerants at The Chemours Company


Tech Session Speaker Bio: Richard has worked for Chemours, previously Dupont, for more that 15 years in a variety of roles and businesses. He has worked in the Fluoroproducts organization for the last 9 years in roles supporting plant operations, supply chain, logisitics and most recently, market development. With the ever-changing global marketplace, it is a key part of his role to expand the awareness of refrigerant regulations and protuct options for the customer.

Richard has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Ohio State and an MBA from Arizona State.

An Overview of Refrigerant Detection Technology

Dinner Presentation Description: New advances in technology mean an ever-increasing number of detection options are availabile. Considerations in design and application guidelines will be discussed. This presentation will touch on common issues and misconceptions including proper system maintenance, minimizing chances for false alarms, and best matching the technology to the application, along with concerns when monitoring for the newest refigerants.


Dinner Sessions Speaker: Joel Myerson, President, ETA Process Instrumentation, Safety, Inc., Martech Controls and iFacility Services


Speaker Bio: Joel has been the president of Safety, Inc. since 1988.

Safety Inc., founded in 1970, is a distributor of safety equipment and portable instruments.

ETA Process Instrumentation and Martech Controls sell instruments for: gas detection and analysis; and for process measurements – temperature, humidity, flow, and energy consumption.

iFacility Services calibrates and repairs portable and fixed gas detection equipment; and provides competent person inspections of fall protection equipment, level A suit testing, and respirator maintenance..

Past President of Boston ASSE, Board member of New England AIHA, past board member of the Mass Safety Council.
