Description: 

An overview of the building code - when is it being updated and how does that happen; building code processes every designer needs to know.  Review of significant changes anticipated in the next code.

Speaker: Joe Cassidy, State of CT Building Inspector

Speaker Bio: 

Mr. Cassidy leads the Office of the State Building Inspector which is responsible for adoption, interpretation, and enforcement of the State Building Code.  It is also responsible for plan review and inspection of major state-owned construction projects as well as inspection of all elevators in the state.  Mr. Cassidy has been in the construction industry over 35 years and has been a State employee for 26 years.  He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.  He is also a Licensed Building Official and Certified Fire and Life Safety and Hazmat Inspector.  Through the course of his career, he has worked for mechanical contracting companies, consulting firms as well as the State.
