Due to continued strong growth in the clean energy industry, Aegis Energy, a subsidiary of EDF, a worldwide player in the energy industry, has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer. The chosen candidate will primarily work out of our Holyoke, Massachusetts office. The opening is for a degreed Mechanical Engineer to work on designing systems, assisting in the installation process, and providing technical support for our field technicians and our sales force.
Responsibilities will include designing, building, testing and overseeing the installation of new cogeneration systems into existing facilities, designing work flow and procedures, coordinating projects, vendor selection, troubling shooting problems both at the plant as well as on-site. This engineer will work very closely with our Electrical Engineer(s) and will also need to learn electrical engineering concepts and principles. There will be frequent day travel to the New York City area and as well as other sites in the Northeast. Some overnight travel will be involved. The selected candidate will also work very closely with our sales force in helping to develop relationships with prospective customers and deal with the technical side of sales with values over $250k and ROI of 3–6 years.
For more than 30 years, Aegis has been providing Combined Heat and Power systems (CHP) that generate usable heat and electricity using clean, efficient, natural gas-powered engines. These modular CHP systems (also known as Cogeneration Systems) will reduce a facility’s dependence on expensive utility power, reduce energy costs, and reduce a facility’s carbon footprint. Aegis focuses mainly on medium-to-large commercial facilities such as High-Rise Apartment Buildings, Hotels, Nursing Homes, Schools, and Industrial Manufacturing Plants.
Requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, minimum one year’s engineering experience, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and computer skills involving knowledge of AutoCAD design software, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. First-hand knowledge of Thermo Dynamics and Heat Transfer are a definite plus.
