President's Message

Jason R. Urso, pe

Connecticut & Western Massachusetts Chapter Members,

My name is Jason R. Urso and I’m excited to serve as your Chapter President for the 2019-2020 Society year.  I became actively involved in the Chapter in 2011 when the Chapter President at the time, Edward Gutowski, asked me to get involved in Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA).  I have been involved in the Connecticut Chapter ever since.  I’ve been lucky enough to take part in Annual and Winter Conferences and other Society activities and events.  I’ve grown as a professional, an individual, and have made great friends in our Chapter, our Region, and throughout the United States during my ASHRAE journey.  I tell this story in hopes that YOU consider getting involved.  I never thought I was the type of person to become the President of a volunteer organization and it may not have come to fruition if Ed hadn’t asked me to get involved.  I would like to personally thank Ed for encouraging me to volunteer.  This year I would like to stress the importance of giving back to ASHRAE.

ASHRAE’s roots stem from ASHAE (American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers), which was founded in 1894.  ASHRAE is currently a 56,000+ member organization that has thrived independently since 1959.  What is the secret to ASHRAE’s success?  Its members…members like you.  ASHRAE is an organization of members serving members.  My message to the Connecticut Chapter of ASHRAE is: get involved!  From joining a technical or ASHRAE Standard committee at the Society level to helping with one of our Chapter committees or simply coming to a meeting, there is something for everyone!

Thank you to our wonderful members for supporting our Chapter over the years.
